Rachel credits her passion for the law to her grandparents, who taught her the importance of compassion and community service from an early age. By the time she was in junior high, Rachel decided she wanted to pursue a career in the legal field to focus on issues affecting families, women, and children. Throughout college and graduate school, she volunteered with local nonprofits and dedicated herself to community activism. Rachel moved to Seattle to attend law school, where she met her husband John. They currently live in West Seattle with their dog, Philip.
